What does Backpack 4 Vic Kids do to the community?
Its purpose is to aid displaced children by providing the most urgently needed, long before any arrangements have been made to support them further. So often, children are placed quickly into foster or kinship care, for example, without much more than what they are wearing at the time. We provide displaced children with a few essential items to help resource them, restoring dignity and self-worth and showing them that they care.
What does The Homeless Project do to the community?
We are a team of volunteers with a simple goal to provide opportunities for all people to access safe, affordable housing. To do this, we run various interventions to foster a sense of belonging, engage the broader community, and empower people who have been recently homeless or at risk of homelessness with skills to foster change.
What does World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Australia do to the community?
Global warming concerns are real, and scientists are alarming bells to act now to protect our planet. Our native forests are home to some of the unique wildlife and plants on Earth. But, unfortunately, today, our precious trees are being lost at an unprecedented rate. Every year an estimated 500,000 hectares of native forests and woodlands are bulldozed across Australia. Worse still, without our urgent, collective action, an estimated 750 million native animals in Australia will die due to excessive tree-clearing by 2030.
That’s why WWF-Australia has launched an ambitious 10-point plan for the next 10 years, Towards Two Billion Trees, designed to STOP excessive tree-clearing, PROTECT our existing trees and forests, and RESTORE native habitat that has been lost.
